Seller's writeup
In excellent condition. New brakes, tires, fuel pump, oil change and new battery to get it ready for sale. This car is set up for daily driving and it runs beautifully. The inside needs some TLC but overall it's a beautiful car. No accidents and clean carfax. The Good: the engine and transmission on these cars are bulletproof and this car is no exception. Electrical is in great shape and so are all the body panels. As I mentioned earlier, I replaced all the stuff that wears out and it's ready to go. Front grill has been replaced. The Bad & the unknown: The driver seat shows a lot of where as seen in the photos. Replacement seat covers in leather to match are readily available. The radio doesn't work. The hard top has been on the car for several years. The convertible top fabric is in great shape but the hydraulic cylinders need to be replaced. The clear plastic cover in front of the instrument cluster is Foggy. VIN # WDBFA68F4XF183217 Priced to sell

Bring a Trailer hammer prices, engine swaps and restomods excluded. BaT sells sorted, documented cars, so a private-party car in unknown condition belongs at the low end of this range rather than the middle.

Before you drive anywhere
The expensive things
- Soft top hydraulics: eleven cylinders that all eventually weep. Watch a full cycle, check the trunk carpet and the pump area for fluid
- Hardtop included and its hoist or stand: a missing hardtop is a $1,500–$3,000 hole
Mechanical
- M113 V8: check for oil leaks at the valve covers, the rear main and the oil cooler lines
- Timing chain rattle on a cold start; a neglected M113's single-row chain stretches
- Transmission: firm, quick 2–3 shift is normal; flaring or slipping when warm is not
- ADS/self-levelling rear suspension where fitted: sagging rear or a warning light
- Roll bar pop-up test and the belt presenters on both sides
Body and paperwork
- Rust is rare but check the jack points, the front fenders behind the wheels and the trunk floor
- Clean title in the seller's name; a salvage or flood title on a Florida car is common
- Service records: these cars are cheap to buy and expensive to catch up on
Ask for the service records and a video of the top cycling before travelling. A seller who won't send them has answered the question.
